All the photographs that appear on this page were made by my grandfather, William Patterson. He and his brother Robert, were the last Patterson owners of "Gerilgambeth".
He was a keen amateur photographer who developed and printed all his own work. Mostly he used a 120mm folding Zeiss-Ikon camera, which is still in the family's possession.
Some of these images were made on glass plate, but about 100 were made using cellulose nitrate film base. Nitrate is very unstable and deteriorates rapidly. In an effort to preserve the images, in 1987 a selection was duplicated onto modern cellulose triacitate plastic film base and printed on resin coated paper by myself.
